Position Overview:
The Registered Professional Nurse (Flight Nurse) is accountable for the safety and care of patients prior to and during transport to medical care facilities. This includes the provision of basic as well as advanced life support measures required to stabilize the critically ill or injured patient. The position requires proficiency in critical care nursing and emergency nursing, aligned with the ability to adapt as necessary for the management of a patient or patients in the aircraft and during flight. The Registered Professional Nurse (Flight Nurse) must also be familiar with aircraft operating procedures and safety practices. The ability to establish positive interpersonal and professional relationships is essential. The ability to perform as a member of the Air-Medical crew is also essential.
Position Prerequisites:
• NYS Registered Professional Nurse
• B.S.N. preferred
• Three years current experience in adult critical care, emergency department, and related special care areas
• Patient transport experience preferred
• ATCN completion preferred
• Professional certification (CCRN/CEN/CFRN) is preferred
• Marketing and/or public relations experience preferred
• EMT/EMT-P certification preferred
• ACLS, BLS-CPR and PALS Current Courses Completed
